The Hypertherm 220308 is the genuine OEM 45 amp electrode for stainless steel and aluminium cutting on HyPerformance HPR260, HPR130, HPRXD, HD4070 and HD3070 systems.
The electrode is the starting point and electrical contact point of the plasma arc. It wears through the hafnium insert as it works, and replacing it on measured pit depth rather than on hours protects the nozzle and the torch behind it.
At 45 amps this electrode pairs with nozzle 220201, swirl ring 220180 and shield 220202 on both the stainless steel and aluminium processes. Using a matched consumable stack is what delivers rated life; mixing amperage classes is the most common cause of premature failure.
