The Hypertherm 220552 is the genuine OEM 50 amp electrode for mild steel cutting on HyPerformance HPR260, HPR130, HPRXD, HD4070 and HD3070 systems.
The electrode is the starting point and electrical contact point of the plasma arc. It wears through the hafnium insert as it works, and replacing it on measured pit depth rather than on hours protects the nozzle and the torch behind it.
At 50 amps this electrode pairs with nozzle 220554, swirl ring 220553 and shield 220555. Using a matched consumable stack is what delivers rated life; mixing amperage classes is the most common cause of premature failure.
