The Hypertherm 220857 is the genuine OEM swirl ring for Duramax and Duramax Lock torches on the Powermax45 XP, Powermax65 and Powermax85, for cutting up to 85 A.
The swirl ring spins the plasma gas around the electrode, which centres and stabilises the arc. A cracked, burnt or dirty swirl ring causes an erratic arc and short consumable life, even with a new nozzle and electrode.
On a Powermax105, Hypertherm specifies the 220994 swirl ring at every amperage instead. FineCut uses the 220947.
Hypertherm publishes mechanised cut charts on mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium using air, and on stainless steel using F5 at 45 to 105 A on the Powermax65, Powermax85 and Powermax105.
