The Hypertherm 220947 is the genuine OEM FineCut swirl ring for Duramax and Duramax Lock torches on the Powermax45 XP, Powermax65, Powermax85 and Powermax105, for the 30-45 A FineCut process.
The swirl ring spins the plasma gas around the electrode, which centres and stabilises the arc. A cracked, burnt or dirty swirl ring causes an erratic arc and short consumable life, even with a new nozzle and electrode. On a cutting table the FineCut stack is the 220948 ohmic shield or 220955 deflector, the 220854 or 220953 ohmic retaining cap, the 220930 FineCut nozzle, the 220842 electrode and this swirl ring.
Hypertherm publishes mechanised FineCut cut charts on mild steel and stainless steel using air. Hypertherm does not recommend F5 with FineCut consumables.
