The Hypertherm 220994 is the genuine OEM swirl ring for Duramax and Duramax Lock torches on the Powermax105. Hypertherm specifies it at every amperage on the 105, from 45 A through 105 A, in place of the 220857 used on the Powermax45 XP, 65 and 85.
The swirl ring spins the plasma gas around the electrode, which centres and stabilises the arc. A cracked, burnt or dirty swirl ring causes an erratic arc and short consumable life, even with a new nozzle and electrode.
Hypertherm publishes mechanised cut charts on mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium using air, and on stainless steel using F5 at 45 to 105 A on the Powermax65, Powermax85 and Powermax105.
