The Hypertherm 220553 is the genuine OEM 50A swirl ring for mild steel cutting on HyPerformance HPR260, HPR130, HPRXD, HD4070 and HD3070 systems.
The swirl ring controls the swirling action of the plasma gas around the electrode. That swirl centres the arc on the electrode and through the nozzle, which is what delivers faster cut speeds and thicker cut capability.
At 50 amps this swirl ring pairs with electrode 220552, nozzle 220554 and shield 220555. It is the standard clockwise rotation part; counter-clockwise mirror-image cutting uses a separate part number.
