The Hypertherm 220631 is the genuine OEM 400A swirl ring for mild steel cutting on HyPerformance HPRXD systems.
The swirl ring controls the swirling action of the plasma gas around the electrode. That swirl centres the arc on the electrode and through the nozzle, which is what delivers faster cut speeds and thicker cut capability.
At 400 amps mild steel this swirl ring pairs with electrode 220629, nozzle 220632 and shield 220636. It is the standard clockwise rotation part; counter-clockwise mirror-image cutting uses a separate part number.
