The Hypertherm 220636 is the genuine OEM 400A shield for mild steel cutting on HyPerformance HPRXD systems.
The shield protects and cools the consumables behind it, taking the molten spatter thrown up during piercing so the nozzle does not. On some processes it also contributes to the swirling action of the plasma gas.
At 400 amps mild steel this shield pairs with nozzle 220632, swirl ring 220631 and electrode 220629, on both straight-cut and bevel torches.
